STMA stands for Sports Turf Managers Association. The Sports Turf option here at ISU is also available if you don't want to work on a golf course. Here at ISU we have just as many sports turf students as we do golf course option students. Students get the option to work on a college football stadium which has been given an award by The Sports Turf Managers Association as the 2012 College Football Field of the Year. Every year students go to the national STMA Conference and participate in the STMA Student Challenge in teams against other colleges. Every year ISU competes and places. This years competition was in San Antonio, Texas on January 21 through January 24. The two ISU teams placed 6th and 11th this year at the conference.
